NBDSSL Transport

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2026-04-29

In the NBDSSL (including NBD) transport mode, agentless backup deployment via SCP and HCI requires the following two networks: management network and backup data transfer network. The management network is used to access the OpenAPIs of SCP and HCI, while the backup data transfer network is used to transfer backup data. You can configure the interface used by the backup data transfer network on SCP or HCI. For details, see Section 22.1.

When you deploy the networks, ensure that the third-party backup app can access SCP and connect to the OpenAPIs of SCP. In addition, the third-party backup app should be connected to the backup data transfer network (the network configured with the backup data transfer interface) of the HCI node so that SFVDDK can access the VM disk data.

Notes:

  1. The third-party backup app can connect directly to HCI (without connecting to SCP). In this case, ensure that the third-party backup app is connected to the management network and backup data transfer network of HCI.
  2. The network deployment requirements for agentless backup are as follows:

(1)The third-party backup app is connected to the management networks of SCP and HCI over Layer 3.

(2)The third-party backup app is connected to the backup data transfer network of HCI over Layer 3, without passing through NAT devices.

(3)If the third-party backup app is not in the same network as the backup data transfer network of HCI, log in to HCI, go to Nodes > Physical Interfaces > Advanced > Other > Static Route, and configure the next-hop IP address for HCI.
