  1. Does the HCI upgrade require license?

Yes, HCI upgrade need license you can go System > Licensing Management Confirm the validity period of the upgrade.

  1. Can individual nodes within the cluster be upgraded one at a time during the upgrade?

  1. What are the steps for upgrading HCI?

1) Use adeploy to perform a pre-upgrade check on the cluster.

2) After resolving any issues detected by adeploy, apply the pre-check package to the cluster.

3) Upload the upgrade package in the HCI interface and follow the prompts to proceed with the upgrade.

  1. Is the HCI upgrade a cold upgrade?

Upgrading from HCI version 6.7.0 and earlier to HCI version 6.7.0 is a cold upgrade; upgrading from HCI version 6.7.0 and other versions to HCI version 6.10.0R1 is an active upgrade.

  1. Is the SCP upgrade a cold upgrade?

Yes, so far, all SCP upgrade is a cold upgrade

  1. How to check the HCI upgrade path?

You can launch the aDeploy select the Pre-change Check click Pre-Upgrade Check in the Check for Upgrade Path(HCI) section you can check the upgrade patch.

  1. Does SCP need to be upgraded when HCI is upgraded?

If after upgrading HCI, SCP still supports managing the corresponding version of HCI, then an upgrade is not required. For example, if the SCP version is 6.8.0 and the HCI version is 6.7.0, when HCI is upgraded to 6.8.0, SCP 6.8.0 can still manage HCI 6.8.0. In this case, SCP does not need to be upgraded. However, if the SCP does not meet the management requirements for the HCI version, then both need to be upgraded. SCP & HCI relationship.

  1. What should be done if a partition space shortage is indicated when performing a pre-upgrade check using adeploy?

Navigate to the adeploy Toolkit section, click Disk Cleanup then select the host click Delete.

  1. When the HCI upgrade prompts that virtual machines are not shut down, but all VMs are actually shut down, what could be the cause?

In a cold upgrade scenario for HCI, all virtual machines and virtual network devices must be completely shut down. If the upgrade indicates that virtual machines are not shut down, you can log in to the HCI console, go to Networking > Devices to check if there are any virtual network devices that are still running, such as VAF or VSSL. If any are found, they need to be shut down before the upgrade can proceed. Virtual switches, virtual routers, and physical uplinks do not require shutdown and can remain operational.

  1. After SCP managed the HCI cluster, can version upgrades for the HCI cluster be performed on SCP?

  1. What should be done if a node goes down during the HCI upgrade?

If a device unexpectedly goes down during the platform upgrade, do not restart the device. Contact technical support for assistance.

  1. What should be done when upgrading HCI, an "Upgrade package signature verification failed" error is prompted

Reverify the MD5 value of the HCI upgrade file. If it does not match the correct MD5 value, please redownload the upgrade file.

  1. Does the HCI support downgrading?

No, it does not support downgrading.

  1. When upgrading an HCI stretched cluster, should the witness node be upgraded first or the HCI cluster?

The witness node should be upgraded first for stretched cluster upgrades.

  1. The HCI needs to be upgraded, and the patch information includes a “custom-update-precheck patch”. Can it be upgraded?

Yes, it can.

Except for the “custom-update-precheck” patch, other patches with “custom” fields need to be confirmed with technical support before upgrade.

Upgrades are not allowed when other tasks are being executed on the HCI.

  1. Can the HCI be upgraded when a disk is offline?

No, it cannot.

  1. Does maintenance mode automatically turn off after the HCI upgrade?

For an active upgrade, maintenance mode needs to be manually exited. For a cold upgrade, maintenance mode will be automatically exited after the host restarts.

  1. If the HCI version is upgraded, does the VM’s vmtool need to be manually upgraded?

No, it does not.

  1. How can the HCI upgrade task be canceled?

Cancelling the HCI upgrade task is not supported during the upgrade process. If there are issues during the upgrade, please contact technical support for assistance.

  1. How to roll back an HCI patch?

Login HCI go to System > Upgrade > Rollback select the patch you need rollback click Rollback. Notice: patch rollback need reboot all the nodes in the cluster.

  1. In the DR Scenario how to upgrade the HCI and SCP

Upgrade SCP first then you can choice the order whether upgrade DC site first or DR site first or in the same time. Notice: before all the cluster upgraded the DR will keep a fail status.

  1. Does the VM’s snapshot or backup will lose after HCI upgrade

The VM’s snapshot and backup will not be lost after HCI upgrade

  1. Will the aSAN available space impact the HCI upgrade

Before HCI upgrade should make sure the availability space of aSAN more than 20%

  1. Can HCI upgrade without aSAN
