Recover VMs on Secondary Site

Introduction

When the primary site encounters a disaster, you can select Recovery to Secondary Site to power on placeholder VMs on the secondary site. Data that has not been synced to the secondary site will be lost.

Precautions

During the recovery, if the VMs on the primary site are still active, the placeholder VMs on the secondary site will encounter an IP conflict after they are powered on.

Prerequisites

A protection group is associated with a recovery plan.

Procedure

  1. Go to Resources > Disaster Recovery > Disaster Recovery > Recovery Plan, select the protection group on which you want to perform a DR test, and choose Recover > Recovery to Secondary Site above the list.

  1. Select Disaster recovery as the recovery method, and select Power on VM upon recovery. You can also configure resource reservation and then select Recover HCI VM with reserved resources.

  1. Select the recovery plan and choose More > View Progress to view the detailed recovery progress.
  2. After the VMs are recovered on the secondary site, select the protection group and click Download to view the detailed recovery report. You can configure subscription settings to send the report to the specified email address.
