When a VM on the primary site encounters data loss, you can select Recover at Primary Site to recover the VM from the backup on the primary site. You can create a new VM or overwrite the original VM. If you choose to create a new VM, a new VM is created based on a BP. The original VM is not affected. If you choose to overwrite the original VM, the original VM is shut down and deleted.
Precautions
To avoid IP address conflicts with existing VMs, you need to manually connect the new VM to the network.
The new VM has new hardware IDs. If the OS or software of the VM requires hardware information for licensing, you need to obtain the license again or recover the VM by overwriting the original VM.
If you overwrite the original VM, the original VM will be shut down and deleted.
Overwriting the original VM does not change the hardware or network information of the original VM.
Prerequisites
A protection group is associated with a recovery plan.
Procedure
Go to Resources > Disaster Recovery > Disaster Recovery > Recovery Plan, select the protection group on which you want to perform a DR test, and choose Recover > Recover at Primary Site above the list.
Choose a recovery method. It is recommended to create a new VM. You need to manually connect the VM to the network if you use this method. If you choose to overwrite the original VM, the original VM is shut down and deleted. After you select a recovery method, click Next.
Select the BP used to recover the VM and the location of the recovered VM.
