Create Recovery Plans

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2025-12-18

Introduction

When you want to perform a DR test on VMs of different businesses, you can create a recovery plan, add the VMs to protection groups, and add the protection groups to the recovery plan. You can use a recovery plan to perform DR test, recovery, and failover operations. Protection groups with higher priorities are prioritized during recovery and failback.

Precautions

  1. The startup order specified for VM recovery takes effect only on VMs that have vmTools installed.
  2. A protection group can be added to only one recovery plan.

Prerequisites

Protected VMs are added to protection groups.

Procedure

  1. Go to Resources > Disaster Recovery > Disaster Recovery > Recovery Plan and click New to create a recovery plan. Enter the name of the plan, select the primary site, secondary site, and protection group, and click Next.

  1. In the Recovery Settings step, you can view the recovery datastore and the VM startup order.
  2. Select a recovery plan and click DR Test, Recover, or Migration to Primary Site to perform a DR test, recovery, or failback operation.
