Introduction

Sangfor DR offers local backup and cross-site DR solutions. Both the primary and secondary sites are enterprise cloud platforms of Sangfor.

The local backup solution allows you to use regular backup or CDP to create VM backups in the backup repository of the primary site. When VMs are down, they can be quickly recovered from the protected local backups. The shortest RPO and RTO that this solution can achieve are 1 second and 2 minutes, respectively. When the customer requires an RPO of a few seconds or minutes, it is recommended to use CDP. When the customer requires an RPO of a few hours or longer, it is recommended to use regular backup.

The cross-site DR solution supports VM-level DR within different RPOs (1 second as the shortest RPO). The primary site can replicate local backup data to the secondary site for DR. When the primary site is down, VMs can be quickly powered on on the secondary site within the RTO (10 minutes as the shortest RTO), which greatly reduces the business downtime.

Precautions

Cross-site DR does not support recovery of data stored in the physical disks, shared virtual disks, USB devices, and CDs/DVDs of VMs.
