Use Management Interfaces

When creating a secondary site and adding DR links, if you use management interfaces as DR transmission interfaces, the site IP addresses (management IP addresses of HCI clusters) and DR proxy interface IP addresses (management IP addresses of nodes) are automatically specified. Make sure that the primary and secondary site IP addresses can communicate at Layer 2 or Layer 3.

Use Dedicated DR Transmission Interfaces

To use dedicated interfaces as DR transmission interfaces, you need to prepare DR proxy interface IP addresses and site IP addresses in advance. Allocate the DR proxy interface IP addresses to physical interfaces. Take note that you cannot allocate IP addresses in the same network segment to different physical interfaces of an HCI cluster. When you create a three-node cluster on the primary site and the secondary site, make sure that the clusters can communicate at Layer 3. The following section uses the configuration of the primary site as an example.

1. Management interface IP addresses (aggregate interface eth1-2): 192.168.121.100-192.168.121.102, Gateway: 192.168.121.254

2. IP addresses of physical interfaces for DR transmission (aggregate interface eth3-4): 192.168.122.100-192.168.122.102. No gateway is configured.
3. Site IP address: 192.168.122.103 (the next hop is 192.168.122.254). Take note that the site IP address and physical interface IP addresses can belong to different network segments. However, make sure that the site IP address can communicate with the IP address of the secondary site.

When you add DR links, select Layer 3 Link for DR IP Address, set DR Transmission Interface and DR Proxy Interface to the DR transmission interface (aggregate interface eth3-4) in the Advanced pop-up window. Then, the IP range of the DR proxy interface is automatically set to 192.168.122.100-192.168.122.102. Set the site IP address to 192.168.122.103, select Enable route, and set the next hop to 192.168.122.254.
