Consistency Group

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2025-12-18

Consistency groups are the key technology for ensuring the consistency and validity of data stored in different disks of placeholder VMs. With CDP, we are able to verify the consistency of data and ensure the validity of every RP. For example, VM A and VM B have multiple virtual disks. Each virtual disk has multiple RPs and BPs. In the figure below, BPs and RPs are created over time. CDP verifies the RPs in different disks to ensure their validity, providing reliable data support for DR.

The figure below shows how RPs in different disks of placeholder VMs are verified to ensure their validity.

  1. Three disks are used by CDP. IO data is written to these disks, and then RPs with IDs are generated. RPs with the same ID in the three disks are considered consistency RPs.
  1. RP3 is generated in vdisk1, vdisk2, and vdisk3. Therefore, RP3 is a valid consistency RP. In this case, the RP is displayed on the DR page and can be used to recover VMs.
  2. RP6 is not generated in vdisk 2. Therefore, RP6 is not a valid consistency RP. In this case, it is not displayed on the DR page and cannot be used to recover VMs.
