Backups View

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2025-12-18

Log in SCP go to Disaster Recovery > Scheduled Backup > VM backups.  Here you can view all the VM’s backup. You can check the backup status, VM’s name, how many backups one VM has, total space used by all backups for each VM, last backup repository, last backup time, user, resource pool, Dst Resource Pool, schedule and backup polices.

Backup status includes 4 statuses; the 4 details of the 4 statuses are as follows:

Alerting: Last 2 backups failed.

Warning: Last 2 backups failed.

Normal: Last 2 backups failed.

Other: VMs with no backup status (backup policy disabled, or backup policy enabled but no backup task triggered).

Backup alert trigger cannot be modified by default.

Click the VM’s name and you can get the following information:

Backup Policy name, the details of the backup policy include Schedule, Size, Backup Lock, CDP information (Configured or not, Log Retention Period, Max IO Activity Log Size, IO Activity Log Repository Usage). Backup Copy Policy enabled or not (if enabled will show the policy name).

If the Backup Lock is enabled, it will not be automatically cleaned up even if the backup retention period has expired or storage space is insufficient, ensuring the long-term retention of critical data copies. In scenarios such as disaster recovery, the system may automatically enable protection for backup files. If issues arise where backup files cannot be automatically cleaned due to protection, they can be resolved by upgrading the SCP platform version or executing specific scripts in the background.

In the Period section you can specify the time period you want check the backups.

Result refers to the execution status of the backup health check. This feature verifies whether the backup files are complete and usable, primarily checking whether the backup metadata is corrupted or whether the data blocks are readable. If the check finds that the latest backup restore point is unavailable or partially available, the system may automatically trigger a full backup task to repair the backup chain.

Encryption refers to whether encryption protection is enabled for the backup files.

If the virtual machine disk is not encrypted, the backup here will not be encrypted. If the virtual machine disk is encrypted, the backup here will also be encrypted.

Disk usage details refer to the backup status of all disks associated with the virtual machine.
