The following are the steps to adding a disk to local storage.

Step 1: Login HCI go to Storage > Other Datastores > New select Local.

Step 2: After selecting the storage type, selecting the disks need to be added, click Next.

Step 3: Select the node the disk locates on.

Step 4: Set the name of the local storage and description.

Step 5: If the disk was used as local storage in other cluster and has VM or virtual disk locates on this disk, select Restore VMs and shared virtual disks in the datastore after the disk add as local storage success you can see the previous VM and virtual disk.

Step 6: Check Add this datastore to VM backup repositories as well. You can use this local storage as VM backup repositories, at the same time you can set the value of Max Backup Repository/Total Capacity. By clicking Details button, you can see the local storage’s total capacity, the value of max backup repository/capacity and max backup repository.

Step 7: After clicking OK waiting the local storage creation successfully.
