Shared Virtual Disk

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2025-12-18

Virtual shared disks allow multiple virtual machines to mount the same disk, primarily used in Oracle RAC (Real Application Clusters) scenarios. By using virtual shared disks, the traditional deployment model of Oracle RAC can be significantly simplified, reducing complexity and costs. Both virtual storage and external storage can currently provide external storage shared disks.

Login SCP goes to Resource Center locate the resource pool you want to create share virtual disk, go to Storage > Virtual Storage > Shared Virtual Disks click Create. Fill in the following information.

Shared Disk: The name of the share disk. Then click OK.

Description: the description of the share disk.

Virtual Datastore: When there are multiple virtual storage volumes, select one volume as the source volume for creating the virtual storage.

Storage Policy: Select the storage policy for the shared disk. You can create new storage policy by click . For the details you can refer to section 2.5.3 Storage Policy.

Disk Size: Specify the size of the shared disk.

Disks: The number of virtual shared disks to create.

Pre-allocation: This mode improves disk performance but consumes more storage space. If it is disabled, storage space will be allocated based on actual data size. The capacity of disks in this mode cannot exceed 4 TB. You cannot change the enabling status after the settings are saved.
