• The recommended baseline for healthy memory utilization is between 30% and 70% on average, remaining below 80% even during peak business hours.
• If the average memory utilization falls below 30%, exceeds 70%, or peaks above 80%, the memory configuration should be adjusted as follows: Adjusted Configuration Size ≈ Original Configuration Size * Original Average Memory Utilization * 2
Example:An original memory configuration of 16 GB with an average utilization of 20% would be calculated as: 16 * 0.2 * 2 = 6.4 GB. Post-migration, this could be adjusted to 6 GB.
• The recommended memory configuration for application servers post-migration should not be lower than 8 GB. If the calculated size (e.g., 6.4 GB in the example above) is below 8 GB, configure it to 8 GB.
• For database servers, memory can be increased during migration to the cloud but should not be reduced. Arbitrarily reducing database server memory may prevent the database from starting. Specific configurations must be calculated by a professional DBA. For Oracle database servers, the memory configuration must not be altered arbitrarily during migration.
