Can a VM be cloned or migrated across different architectures (Example: migrate a VM from x86 cluster to ARM cluster)?

Answer: This depends on the architecture type: 1. Migrate from c86 cluster to x86 cluster: Supports cold migration (live migration and clone are not supported). This is because the instruction set compatibility between c86 and x86 architectures is high. Before cold migration, make sure the version of the destination x86 cluster supports the feature. Software environment reconstruction is not required after migration. 2. Clone or migration in other cross-architecture scenarios (Example: Clone or migration across x86 and ARM clusters or across c86 and ARM clusters) is not supported. Cause: Architectural differences lead to driver incompatibility and CPU instruction set mismatches, resulting in VM start failure after migration or cloning.

Solution: To deploy a VM across clusters with different architectures, recreate the VM in the cluster with the destination architecture, sync business data through data backup (Example: CDP) or file transfer (Example: SCP), and reconfigure the software environment.
