Virtual Key Licensing

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2025-12-31

Feature Overview

SCP supports virtual license. This method allows you to use virtual key to complete licensing. This method ensures that cluster services are not affected when the USB key is missing or faulty, and also eliminates the need to send back the current USB key and apply for another USB key when the licensing scenario changes.

Precautions

  1. Only SCP V6.8.0 and later support virtual key licensing.
  1. You cannot use a USB key and virtual key for licensing at the same time.
  2. By default, a USB key is used for licensing of SCP V6.8.0 or upgrades from earlier SCP versions. You can switch the licensing mode after the SCP upgrade is complete. When switching the licensing mode, you need to contact technical support to obtain a Platform-X account and send the USB key to Sangfor.
  3. After the licensing mode is switched, the original USB key becomes invalid.
  4. Virtual key can be used only for offline licensing. It currently does not support online licensing.
  5. During virtual key licensing, make sure that the version of the HCI cluster in which SCP runs is HCI V6.8.0 or later.
  6. If SCP is deployed in active/standby mode and an active/standby switchover is triggered, follow the license application procedure to re-apply for a license and import it to the standby node.

Prerequisites

A Platform-X account is obtained.

Steps

  1. Log in to SCP and go to Resources > System > System > Licensing > Platform Licensing. Then, click Switch Licensing Method to go to the Offline Licensing page.
