Advanced Storage Features

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2025-12-17

Storage Partitioning

This feature allows the logical segmentation of the shared storage pool. Host-Level Partitioning allocates a dedicated portion of the pool to a specific host or group of hosts, useful for multi-tenancy. Disk-Level Partitioning enables the creation of multiple partitions on a single physical disk for different purposes, improving disk utilization.

Storage Policies

Administrators can define policies that automatically enforce specific data services for virtual disks. These policies can dictate parameters like the number of replicas, performance tier (e.g., SSD vs. HDD), and other advanced features, simplifying storage management and ensuring consistent application of data service levels.

Virtual iSCSI Storage

aSAN can present its distributed storage pool as standard iSCSI targets. This allows external physical servers, third-party hypervisors, or other network devices to leverage the resilient and scalable aSAN storage, extending its benefits beyond the HCI-managed virtual machines.

Shared Virtual Disks

This feature enables multiple VMs to have concurrent read and write access to the same virtual disk. It is a prerequisite for deploying clustered applications like Microsoft Failover Clustering or Oracle RAC that require shared storage for concurrent data access.

Virtual Disk Management

aSAN provides a comprehensive suite of tools for managing the lifecycle of virtual disks. This includes capabilities for creating, expanding capacity, migrating between tiers or nodes, and securely deleting virtual disks, giving administrators fine-grained control over storage resources.
