VM Resource Limit

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2026-01-08

Function Description

You can configure upper limits for the CPU clock speed, disk I/O, and NIC QoS for the VM. Platform administrators can configure upper limits for the resources used by all VMs in a specific resource pool according to the business importance.

Precautions

  1. The CPU clock speed ranges from 100 MHz to 1,000 GHz. Note that if this limit is too low, for example, 100 MHz, VM report data may not be updated in time, and the VM may restart.
  2. The outbound or inbound traffic of the VM NIC ranges from 1,000 Kbps to 20,000 Mbps.
  3. The disk I/O read or write speed of the VM ranges from 128 KB/s to 102,400 MB/s, and the read or write count ranges from 16 to 2,147,483,647. Note that if the I/O limit is too low, for example, 128 KB/s, the VM may restart due to poor system disk I/O.

Prerequisites

N/A

Steps

Go to Reliability > VM Resource Limit, select the target resource pool, and click Bulk Edit. Bulk configure the CPU clock speed, NIC traffic, and disk I/O of VMs in different storage pools within the resource pool. After the configuration is completed, newly created VMs in the storage pool inherit the QoS policy of the resource pool. You can edit the default QoS configurations on the VM editing page.[9]
