Sangfor HCI and aSV provide a unified infrastructure combining compute, storage, networking, and built-in security to simplify deployment, operations, and services.
For versions upgraded to 6.8.0 or later, the aggregation mode of the storage network remains unchanged. For 6.9.0 and later, you can change the mode to standard link aggregation. Before the change, you need to shut down all VMs and virtual network devices.
The standard link aggregation mode is recommended for a newly deployed storage network.
You can add a static route for the private storage network only if link aggregation is disabled.
Round-robin cannot be used for the storage network interface.
Steps
Go to Virtual Storage and click New. In the pop-up dialog box, configure the storage network among cluster hosts. By default, HCI clusters use eth0 as the management interface and cluster interface for synchronizing HCI configurations. The storage network interface is used to synchronize the file data of virtual datastores. We recommend that you configure different interfaces for them. In standard clusters, Standard Link Aggregation is recommended to set up the storage network. In stretched clusters, Standard Link Aggregation is recommended to set up the storage network.
Deployment Mode:
• Standard Link Aggregation (recommended): If interface aggregation is configured for hosts and switches, hosts can connect to third-party storage or servers through virtual storage network interfaces. If two switches are used, you need to configure them in stacking or M-LAG mode. For interface operational mode, Layer-4-based loading is recommended.
• Link Aggregation Disabled: The storage network is independent. Ordinary Layer 2 switches can meet the demand. However, if a link fails, the storage of the connected host will become unavailable.
Each host uses two storage network interfaces that are connected to the same Layer 2 switch. Link aggregation is automatically performed for storage network interfaces between hosts (link aggregation needs to be configured for the switch as well). After selecting the storage deployment method, you need to connect cables accordingly, select storage network interfaces for each host, and configure the corresponding interface addresses.
Then, the configuration of the private storage network is done.
