Witness Node Failure Handling (high-risk operation)

{{ $t('productDocDetail.updateTime') }}: 2026-01-05

Description

When the witness node in the cluster goes offline due to a physical failure, it needs to be replaced with a new node.

Precautions

  1. It is required that the configuration of the new witness node cannot be lower than that of the original failed witness node.
  2. It is recommended that the capacity of the quorum disk of the new witness node is the same as that of the old witness node.
  3. The management IP address of the replacement witness node cannot be the same as the original witness node.

Prerequisites

  1. The replacement witness node system has been installed and IP addresses have been configured.
  2. The IP address of the replaced witness node system can communicate with the HCI cluster normally.

Steps

  1. Find the failed witness node in Nodes > Nodes, and click Replace Host.
  2. Enter the IP and password of the new witness node.

After replacing the witness disk, confirm the configuration and save it.
