Sangfor HCI and aSV provide a unified infrastructure combining compute, storage, networking, and built-in security to simplify deployment, operations, and services.
The shared file type is introduced to the external storage SFFS, which can be read and written at storage mount points on different hosts. The shared file works as a VM disk, enabling VMs in the cluster to use a shared disk at the same time.
Precautions
Shared virtual disks will be excluded during export, backup, CDP backup, snapshot, and disaster recovery for VMs.
Shared virtual disks only support cold capacity expansion. Before expanding the capacity of a shared disk, business services on the VMs using it must be suspended.
Shared virtual disks do not support hot cloning.
Shared virtual disks do not support cross-datastore live migration.
VMs using shared virtual disks do not support cross-cluster live migration.
VMs using shared virtual disks cannot be suspended.
VMs using shared virtual disks can only be converted to VM templates after the shared virtual disks are deleted.
Shared virtual disks of VMs created through the Oracle RAC Wizard must be on the same LUN.
Prerequisites
Up to 1,000 shared virtual disks of external storage can be created in a cluster.
A shared virtual disk can be used by up to 128 VMs at the same time.
The total size of shared virtual disks cannot exceed the external storage capacity.
