Athena SWG (formerly Internet Access Gateway) ensures visibility and control across the network, detecting risks like unauthorized access, non-compliant activities, and data leaks to manage endpoints.
In Single Arm mode, this unit is connected to a switch without changing the network topology and thus has no impact on the network. This unit functions as a proxy server and controls and audits Internet access since data goes through it.
Take the following scenario as an example. The unit is deployed in Single Arm mode for proxy, accelerating, and controlling Internet access. The network topology is as shown in the following figure.
Perform the following steps:
Add an IP address entry on the PC, which resides on the network segment 10.251.251.251/24. Then, open the web browser and enter the IP address of IAG (https://10.251.251.251) into the address bar to visit the Web admin console of IAG. On the login page, log in to the IAG console with the default account admin/admin.
Navigate to System > Network > Deployment page. Click Settings, select Single Arm Mode, and click Next.
Select the eth0 interface and configure the IPv4 address, gateway, and DNS server for the interface. The IPv6 address is also supported in this mode. Then, click Next. (In this example, the eth0 interface of the unit should be connected to the switch)
Select an available interface as Manage Interface and configure an IPv4 address for the interface (an IPv6 address is also supported). The Default Mange interface is eth1, through which users can connect to this unit. After configuring the Manage interface, click Next.
Make sure the network settings are correct. Then, click OK[A244].
Clicks OK[A245], and the following dialog will notify you that applying the settings requires restarting the device. To apply the changes, click Yes.
