Pre-upgrade Instructions

  1. Check the cluster version and architecture: Before the upgrade, check the version and architecture of your HCI cluster and obtain the corresponding SP.
  2. Perform a pre-upgrade check: Use aDeploy to perform a pre-upgrade check. You can upgrade the HCI cluster using an SP only after the cluster passes the check.
  3. Skip the pre-upgrade check: If special types of VMs (see 4 Appendix) are running in the cluster, you must shut down the VMs and perform a pre-upgrade check. The cluster can be upgraded after it passes the check. You can contact a technical support representative to skip the pre-upgrade check on these VMs if needed. In this case, you must use aDeploy to complete the upgrade without restarting the special types of VMs that skipped the pre-upgrade check. However, HA will be triggered for these VMs during intra-cluster or cross-cluster live migration. Please restart the VMs at your earliest convenience after the upgrade.
  4. Upgrade cancellation: You can cancel the upgrade only before the cluster enters the final stage of the upgrade.
  5. Upgrade the witness node: If the cluster has a witness node, log in to the witness node to upgrade it first and then log in to the cluster to upgrade the data nodes.
